Rachel Beck, founder of Vigor Vitamins, Yorkshire women's supplement brand

Meet Our Founder: Rachel Beck

I didn't set out to start a supplement company.

Vigor came from something much simpler; a feeling that something wasn't right, and a need to do something about it.

I grew up in Steeton, a small Yorkshire village, the middle child of three. Close enough in age to compete with my older Brother, and older enough to feel responsible for my little Sister. That combination stuck; the drive to push myself, the instinct to care for others. Both of those things are at the heart of Vigor today.

School wasn't always easy. I was bullied for a little while, and I still remember exactly how that felt; the loneliness of feeling left out, like you didn't quite belong. I think that experience shaped a lot of who I am. I made a decision, probably without even realising it at the time, that I never wanted to make anyone else feel that way. So, I became someone who talks to everyone, includes everyone, makes everyone feel seen. It sounds small, but I think it matters more than most things.

The friendships I built growing up, many of them in those early years when I needed them most, are still my closest circle today. The kind of friendships where you show up for each other, no matter what. That sense of loyalty and genuine connection runs through everything I do, and it's exactly what I wanted to build into Vigor. Not just a brand, but a community. A place where women feel genuinely supported, not just sold to.

My career took me through customer service, sales, and eventually management and leadership roles. On paper, it looked like a solid path. In reality, something was always missing. So, I stepped away, travelled, tried different things and kept searching for work that actually meant something.

Then in 2018, my Dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He was one of the hardest working people I've ever known; strong morals, strong values, always doing the right thing. He died the following year.

Losing him changed my perspective on everything. It made me realise how quickly time passes, and how important it is not to miss your own life. I went through a period of real change around that time, and rather than retreat from it, I used it to get clearer about what I actually wanted.

After turning 40, I started paying much more attention to my health. Not in a faddy, extreme way, but properly tuning in to what my body needed to feel well, strong, and like me. The more I looked at the supplement industry, the more frustrated I got. Too many claims, too many unnecessary ingredients, too much noise, and not nearly enough honest support for women navigating real hormonal changes.

Then, almost by chance, I met a vitamin manufacturer whose values were exactly what I'd been looking for. Something clicked.

I built Vigor to do things differently. Simple, effective supplements with no fillers, no fuss and no miracle promises. Just what your body actually needs, to nourish, balance, maintain energy and feel like you again. Every product is UK-made, clean, and designed with real women and real life in mind.

The values behind Vigor are the same ones I've come back to my whole life: honesty, fairness, integrity, and a genuine belief that good health should be accessible to everyone, without the overwhelm, without the faff, and without anyone feeling like they don't belong.

That last bit matters to me more than I can really explain. Vigor exists to support women. . . all of them. Whether you're 32 and trying to get your energy back or navigating perimenopause and feeling like a stranger in your own body. You're not alone in it, and you shouldn't have to figure it out alone either.

That belief led me to co-found Thrive Circle too; a monthly networking community bringing women together to connect, learn and support each other in business, because the more I built Vigor, the more I realised that community isn't just a nice-to-have, it's the whole point!

When I'm not working on the brand, you'll usually find me strength training, walking the Yorkshire countryside, or talking to women about why building real strength, both physical and mental, matters more than any quick fix.

It's the first thing I've built that feels fully aligned with who I am.

Oh, and I can rap every word of Forgot About Dre, which tells you everything you need to know about me, and proves I've always had a backup plan 😉
